Damn Fool is the second in a trilogy of one-act plays by W. Tré Davis and was part of our Fall Seedling Series on Thursday, 13 October 2016. It was produced to award winning success in the 2017 Fresh Fruit Festival.
Pictured above are sisters Anna (Lisa Kitchens) and Scarlett (Emily Kitchens) in an argument, as Hattie (Renika Williams) watches.
Costumes for Damn Fool were by Susanne Houstle.
Photography of the production is by Bjorn Bolinder.
Damn Fool won the award for best playwright of a short play (Mr. Davis) and best performance of an actor in a shot play (Renika Williams).
The first play from the trilogy, No Ma'am Never, was performed in the November 2015 Shotz from the Crypt, produced by Amios. Pictured below are PIaget Ventus as Hattie, Emily Kitchens as Scarlett and Allison Haglund as her sister Anna in the final image of the play.
The three plays are connected by the journey of three characters beginning in the year 1844 and then the three women are re-realized in their occupations and relationships in 1944 and 2044.
We are anticipating Tre's continued development of these plays.
History is a continuum.
Below, in Damn Fool, Hattie (Renika Williams) argues with Anna (Lisa Kitchens) in the basement of the local jail. They were discovered by sister Scarlett in a local jazz bar dancing together. Anna's father, the sheriff has been contacted and she knows the trouble they are in.
